Unique BMS management in the lithium battery market:
TESVOLT is a German start-up created in 2016 which offers storage solutions based on lithium batteries (Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt). TESVOLT batteries use prismatic SAMSUNG SDI cells used in particular in certain electric vehicles (BMW). The assembly of the cells in the rack cabinets is carried out in Germany, and the technical distinction that TESVOLT brings is in the electronic battery management system (BMS). The latter is unique in its kind because it is active type, which allows individual monitoring of each cell and its own parameters (SOC, EOL, temperature, voltage, etc.).
The BMS optimizes and distributes the charge between each cell and maximizes the life of all batteries. This technology distinguishes TESVOLT batteries from other lithium battery manufacturers who offer less expensive solutions but equipped with passive BMS (PYLONTECH, BYD). These passive BMS have a strong impact on the overall performance of the system but also on the life of each cell. TESVOLT Lithium batteries therefore allow you to optimize the self-consumption of the system, which is very low (around 3 to 5 W for an APU). This very low consumption allows you to obtain more energy for the consumers of the system and thus optimizes the overall efficiency.

In addition, TESVOLT has chosen the SAMSUNG SDI batteries for their great durability. They allow up to 8000 cycles at 100% DOD (0.5C). Their lifespan can thus be up to twenty years in regular deep cycling, at room temperature. Prismatic type cells have the best lifespan, unlike pocket or cylindrical type cells. The latter are used by other manufacturers, which are less expensive but less efficient (LG CHEM, KOKAM):

Each TESVOLT battery system is composed of one or more 4.8 kWh modules, as well as an ABO (Active Battery Optimizer) and an APU (Active Power Unit) that can control up to 16 modules of 4.8 kWh, all integrated in a rack format in a cabinet. Thanks to the active BMS, the system is modular and can accommodate additional 4.8 kWh modules later, which is a big advantage over other manufacturers.
