Victron off-grid solar kit, available in 3 and 5KVA power:
This Victron off-grid solar kit integrates all the necessary solar equipment (inverter, MPPT solar panel controller, Cerbo GX supervision system, batteries, AC/DC cut-offs and protection boxes) pfor people capable of wiring and carrying out the entire self-construction installation. The Victron 3K5 hybrid solar kit is used in the following applications and scenarios:
- Use strictly on an isolated / off-grid site, in which case the presence of a generator will be strongly recommended
- Use in hybrid mode (“ESS”) with the presence of the EDF network. This will allow optimization of solar self-consumption during the day, and power supply in the event of a power outage (“backup”).
The nomenclature of our autonomous solar kits indicates the power of the system in back-up mode, as well as the battery capacity:
3K= maximum continuous power of the system WITHOUT EDF (corresponds to the power of the Multiplus)
5 = nominal capacity of a Pylontech US5000 battery (can be increased up to 16x blocks in parallel)
I. 100% autonomous operation of the solar kit:
In self-sufficient operation (i.e. in the event of an EDF outage), the autonomous system immediately takes over from the consumers, without power interruption, via the batteries and the Victron Multiplus inverter. In the case of the 5K10 kit, up to 5000W (depending on the cosphi) can be provided by the system (provided the batteries have sufficient charge), day and night, without EDF. At this rate obviously the battery discharge will go too quickly to allow long-term autonomy (5000W x 2 = 10 kWh, therefore total discharge in < 2 hours).
II. During the day, solar self-consumption is optimized thanks to battery charging:
With the presence of EDF, the system behaves in "ESS" mode, that is to say it will prioritize energy flows so that the solar panels provide you with power for your consumers in " real time”, without using batteries. The surplus will obviously go to recharge them, instead of returning to EDF:
When daytime consumption is lower than solar production, obviously the surplus returns to the batteries to recharge them:
III. At night, the solar batteries discharge to cover the home's consumption:
When the solar panels do not produce energy, the batteries are called upon to cover the consumption of the home, within the limit of the available battery capacity and the power of the Victron inverter obviously:
III. How does the Victron 5K10 off-grid solar kit compare to the competition?
Given current competition, it seems important to us to remember that our prices remain competitive, despite very strong pressure from players sometimes practicing dumping policies (= cut prices). Today, with the diversity of offers available on the internet regarding solar kits, it seems appropriate to compare our solutions to those of the competition, in this case with one of the most visible players on the internet.
In a solar kit aimed at total (hybrid) or partial autonomy, the details will make all the difference between a safe kit designed according to the rules of the art, compared to another where certain aspects will be neglected in order to take advantage of the benefits. prices down.
Given the transparency of web prices on Victron equipment for example, Resellers must skimp on other components and accessories of a solar kit in order to appear to be cheaper on the surface. This is misleading and can endanger property and people, because the specific electrical standards linked to solar systems with batteries (making it possible to obtain a Consuel) are quite drastic and complex to interpret for installers and professionals in the sector. It will therefore go without saying that for the neophyte, deciphering several dozen pages of the UTE C-15-712-3 repositories remains delicate.
In the case of autonomous solar kits with batteries, the critical and normative safety points to check are as follows:
Photovoltaic protection side: the BJ box (“junction box”) is it equipped with fuses on each line, in addition to the general intersectionor? (“string”) PV? Example opposite of the presence of gPV fuse holders for each string:
Alternating current protection side : The presence of a surge protector on the AC 230V current side helps protect sensitive electronic equipment (inverters, etc.) downstream. In the event of an overcurrent near the home, an €80 surge protector in an AC box can effectively protect a €1500 Victron Multiplus inverter:
