Perma-Batteries' opinion:
"Now a key player in the lithium battery, BYD is a vertically integrated storage giant that controls the entire manufacturing process of its batteries. With a considerable financial base, the BYD LVS battery intended for isolated site and self-consumption applications is positioned like the lithium battery in best value for money. BYD LVS battery is versatile, safe (lithiated iron phosphate chemistry, prismatic battery) and modular.
Battery BYD-LVS : For self-consumption with storage or isolated site:
The BYD group is the largest manufacturer of batteries for electric vehicles in the world (11% market share). With 180000 employees and a turnover of 12 billion dollars (2015), BYD is considered today as the leader in lithium storage solutions for embedded applications (mobility). For several years, they have been active in developing lithium batteries for individuals, and have offered a complete range to meet all needs: isolated sites and optimized self-consumption. Their financial strike force allows them to offer lithium batteries among the most competitive on the market, based on reliable and proven technology, backed by a 10-year manufacturer's warranty. Thus, some of their lithium batteries have been in service since 2010 and have still not been replaced, with more than showing a very high cycling capacity:
The safe lithium battery: LFP
The lithium battery market is currently divided between two technologies: NCM (nickel cobalt manganese) used among others by Panasonic, Tesla, LG & Samsung, and LFP (lithiated iron phosphate), used by BYD, Murata-Sony (Fortelion). Each of these chemistries have different thermal stability profiles, with thermal runaway starting at varying temperature levels:
